I look forward to having your child in my class. I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I graduated in 1997 from MSU-Billings with a double major in elementary and special education, and I obtained a Master’s Degree in Literacy from Lesley University in 2005. This will be my 19th year of teaching. My husband, Macy, farms and ranches. We have three children.
The opportunity to teach your child is a privilege and a responsibility I take very seriously. I will do my best to motivate, comfort, and appreciate your child and all the gifts he or she will bring to our classroom. There are a few things that I ask of you. Please check your child’s folder each night. I may be sending home important homework, information, or notes that need to be read. I would also like to encourage reading with your child at home. The more your child reads the better reader he/she will become. It is also important to ask them questions about what they are reading; this helps improve their comprehension. The reading process is an amazing journey for both the student and the parents; let’s make it a positive one, your encouragement and interest make a huge difference.
Birthdays are a lot of fun in Kindergarten. I don’t mind if you would like to bring treats. Please do not send birthday invitations to class unless the whole class is invited. During the year I encourage parents to volunteer in the classroom. It is nice to have an extra adult. If you are able to volunteer please let me know.
We will have a snack daily. We do not keep snacks in the classroom because they tend to attract rodents. So please send a healthy snack with your child every day, if you would like them to have a snack.
I will keep you informed of the work your child will be doing, as well as any special events going on at our school and in our classroom. If you ever have a concern, questions, or something that I can help you with, please do not hesitate to give me a call.
Thanks!
